How points are scored

These rankings use Backcourt’s Classic Head-to-Head scoring. Every stat a player records converts to fantasy points:

Bonuses count in real leagues but are excluded from the projections below — they’re single-game events that can’t be read off a season average.

How we rank players

The board starts from cold, hard production. Each player is projected on their current2026-season averages — points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, three-pointers made and turnovers — run through the Classic Head-to-Head values above to produce a projected fantasy points per game (Proj FPTS/G). Because it’s a per-game figure, a player who missed time to injury is judged on how they play, not how often they’ve suited up.

We deliberately leave the bonuses out of that number. Double-doubles, triple-doubles and the full-game multiplier are single-game outcomes; folding them into a season average would quietly inflate every projection. They still score in an actual league — they just aren’t baked into the ranking math, so the number you see is honest.

That production sort is the foundation, not the final word. Rankings and tiers are then adjusted by hand where the raw average lies: rookies with no WNBA sample yet, stars returning from injury, and players riding a hot or cold two-week stretch. That editorial pass is the difference between a spreadsheet sort and a draft board you’d actually trust.

You’ll notice ADP (Average Draft Position) reads “—” for now. As more leagues draft on Backcourt, real draft data accumulates and ADP fills in — at which point it starts to lead the board alongside the projections. Until then, projections carry the rankings.

How are these WNBA fantasy rankings calculated?

Every player is projected on their current 2026-season per-game production — points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, three-pointers and turnovers — scored under Backcourt's Classic Head-to-Head values. That production sort is the starting point; rankings and tiers are then editorially adjusted for rookies, injury returns and small samples.

What do the Elite / Starter / Reserve / Bench tiers mean?

Tiers group players by draft value in a 10-team league. Elite are round-one, build-around talents; Starters are dependable weekly starters; Reserves are rosterable depth with upside; Bench are streamers and deep-league fliers. Most tiers follow the ranking, but a player can be hand-promoted or demoted where their raw average lies.

What does "Proj FPTS/G" mean?

Projected fantasy points per game: a player’s average box-score line run through the scoring values above. It is a per-game number, so a player who has been injured is measured on how they play, not how many games they’ve played.

Why don’t double-doubles and the full-game bonus count in the projection?

Bonuses (double-double, triple-double, full-game multiplier) are single-game events. They can’t be inferred from a season average without inflating it, so projections use base stats only. In a real Backcourt league those bonuses absolutely count — they just aren’t baked into the projected number.
